January 2025 at a glance

Happy New Year!

2025 will start intensely, but things will begin to change for the better by the end of the month.  The Mercury shadow period is cleared on Jan 2nd, bringing more clarity and transparency. Venus will enter her retrograde shadow period on Jan 28th, bringing topics of our relationships, finances, and values to the surface. Finally, the last outer retrograde planet Uranus will start to move forward on Jan 30th. Things will begin to speed up at the end of the month.

The Full Moon at 24°00 Cancer on Jan 13th is conjuct Mars retrograde bringing emotional turmoil and challenges. With sextile to Uranus and trine to Neptune and North Node,  following your intuition can bring some insights and serenity. Uranus will bring some awareness as well.  This full moon is a part of the lunar gestation family that started on the new moon on July 17th, 2023. The events of that new moon might come up on this lunation. Cardinal signs are affected the most: Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn, and all of you with natal placements between 21°-27° of those signs.

On Jan 29th, the New Moon at 9°51' Aquarius makes a lovely trine to Jupiter in Gemini. Uranus as a modern ruler of this lunation forms a sextile with Mars and Venus. Saturn as a traditional ruler makes a trine with Mars. This is a wonderful New Moon to plant a seed for a better future, implementing innovative ideas and taking action to make them real. Most affected will be all fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, and all of you with natal placements between 7°-13° of those signs.

1. Vesta enters Scorpio on Jan 2nd inviting us to make a deeper connection with our spiritual mission. How passionate are you about your heart's desires? On the same day, Venus goes to Pisces. It's time for romance and surrender to fantasy and imagination. Venus loves being in Pisces, bringing us the opportunity to be more kind and compassionate towards others especially ourselves.
2. Before Mars retrograde moves to Cancer on Jan 6th, it will oppose Pluto on Jan 3rd. This is the second out of three oppositions. It's highly explosive and volatile energy. Avoid any confrontations, and be careful with sharp objects and traffic. On the other side, it can bring sharp insights into our psyche.
3. Mercury enters Capricorn on Jan 8th, just after a square to Neptune a few days earlier. Much-needed clarity and soberness will arrive in our approach to our thought process and communication style.
4. The first big shift of the year is lunar nodes moving into the Pisces - Virgo axis on Jan 11th. For the next 18 months, we are moving on from relationship topics to learning how to go with the flow and find faith.

5. Before the Sun enters Aquarius on Jan 19th, it will oppose Mars on Jan 15th and sextile Neptune on the 17th. We might lack patience and a sense of reality. It is an opportunity for creative expression and being physically active. Sun will also meet Pluto in Aquarius, giving us psychological strength.

6. Venus will join Saturn on Jan 18th, followed by Mercury making a lovely sextile to both of them. Communication in our relationships is more realistic and honest at this point. It can also feel like hard love for some of us, so be gentle with others.

7. The last week of the month will bring wonderful opportunities for creative outlets, innovative ideas, brainstorming, and mental breakthroughs with Mars's opposition to Mercury and Mercury trine Uranus on Jan 23rd. And with Venus trine Mars on Jan 25th we will feel more like making love, not war.  

8. Mercury goes into Aquarius on Jan 27th, meeting Pluto a couple of days later. Great time to do some research, dig deep, and explore behind the scenes. And as Uranus goes direct, Jupiter meets the Sun on Jan 30th, boosting our confidence and making our future look brighter.

We start the month with intensity and frustration, but as we approach the end of the month with the New Moon on the 29th and the uplifting energy of the last week, this can be a very productive month with planting many great ideas into the future!
